The Erne

How to set up and finish an Erne: bait the sideline dink, time the jump, and pick the target — behind the near player, at the body, or center gap.

Erne

You jump or step outside the kitchen corner to volley before the opponent's dink. Blue dashed arrow shows your movement to the Erne position (outside the sideline at the net post).

Behind the near opponent

From outside the court at the post, volley sharply behind o2 who dinked crosscourt and is now out of position. Unreachable if timed right.

The Erne works because o2 dinked away — they're leaning left and can't reach back right. Place it right behind their original position.
